The Way of the Waves

Here’s the plan...

Mundaka? No one there!

Some generations claim their time was the golden age, when it was still possible to surf new places. Roger Tout was one of the early surfers who travelled to Europe in search of warm waves and new experiences. Here he explains what it was like exploring northern Spain.

Heading to Biarritz in 1963? Buy a map..

So you set off for Biarritz. Then you have to call the AA after a few miles…

You hear these things but it really is a true story….

“We came around the corner and there was the best surf we’d ever seen….”

When the greats meet up. Magic happens…

Pete Vickery met Nat Young in Biarritz in 1963… did they surf together???

Never spoof with the locals….

You can take a Cornishman out of Cornwall but you can never take the Cornishman from him. Wherever you are in the world, don’t play spoof with the locals, wherever they are.
